FDA warns of counterfeit at-home COVID-19 tests

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned last week that counterfeit at-home tests for COVID-19 are circulating within the United States. The agency specifically warned against using the Flowflex COVID-19 Test Kit, a counterfeit version of the FDA-authorized Flowflex COVID-19 Antigen Home Test, and the iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kit, a counterfeit version of the FDA-authorized iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Home Test. The FDA website contains detailed guidance on how to distinguish between authorized and counterfeit tests. Counterfeit tests may produce false-negative results, potentially delaying treatment and exposing additional people to the virus. (FDA announcement, 4/29/22)
