The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updatedits infection prevention guidance for health care personnel on Feb. 10. The update expands options for source control—the use of well-fitting cloth masks, face masks or respirators—and expands patient care activities in areas where a moderate to high risk of transmitting SARS-CoV-2 exists. The guidance also updates nurse-directed triage protocols for scheduling appointments, routine medical care and care for patients with a suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection, and COVID-19 screening processes for those entering a health care facility.
