What motivated you to apply for the FAONL designation?
The FAONL designation is focused on the specific impact of nursing leadership and serves as a vehicle that highlights the value nurse leaders have on the practice environment, culture and workforce. My motivation for applying for the designation was to help bring more visibility to the importance of nursing leadership.

How has being an FAONL designee impacted your leadership journey and leadership style?
My leadership journey has not changed, as I remain laser focused on continuing to build nursing leaders who can create phenomenal practice environments for all nurses. What is also engrained is the importance of utilizing a relational leadership style when interacting with teams.

What value have you received by achieving your FAONL designation?
Definitely professional growth and expansion of my professional connections.

What advice would you give to someone working towards achieving FAONL status?
My advice to someone working towards achieving FAONL is to start early. Determine what kind of leadership impact you desire to have; use quantifiable metrics that can allow you to describe what you achieved.
