2026 FAONL Spotlight: Patricia Noga

What motivated you to apply for the FAONL designation?
I was motivated to apply for the AONL Fellow designation as a reflection of my commitment to the specialty of nursing leadership and as a celebration of AONL’s work through its diverse community of leaders. I was motivated to demonstrate my contributions to nursing leadership through my progressive clinical and nursing leadership roles, my influence and impact on clinical practice, clinical research and health policy, and my proud connection with the national nurse leader community.

How has being an FAONL designee impacted your leadership journey and leadership style?
Being an FAONL designee has validated my unique career pathway in which my goals and leadership style have evolved significantly over time. The designation has bolstered my credibility to network, collaborate with and mentor colleagues to achieve their career aspirations as we all strive to reshape care delivery and the broader healthcare environment.

What value have you received by achieving your FAONL designation?
My FAONL designation has provided me with a unique recognition of my professional accomplishments and allowed me to build new personal connections with some of the most talented nurse leaders across the nation. I look forward to expanding my leadership practice through continued local, regional, and national involvement and impact as my work aligns with AONL’s strategic priorities to 1) lead, inspire and support the healthcare workforce, 2) improve health through advocacy, and 3) advance nursing leadership.

What advice would you give to someone working towards achieving FAONL status?
There are four pieces of advice I would give to someone working towards achieving FAONL status: 1) maintain ongoing membership and active involvement in both AONL and your AONL local chapter, 2) find opportunities to assess and grow your professional practice and leadership portfolio with involvement at the local, regional, and national level; 3) network with FAONLs and learn to benefit from their mentorship; and 4) seek out FAONL application criteria and apply when the time is right for you!
