2026 FAONL Spotlight: Robert Boesch

What motivated you to apply for the FAONL designation?
FAONL highlights and recognizes contributions to our profession beyond the workplace. As I continue to work with leaders across our organization at Emory Healthcare, our focus is not only on local impact - but progress for our profession. It is important to me that I role model that expectation and behavior in the work I do.

How has being an FAONL designee impacted your leadership journey and leadership style?
The designation has offered a moment to reflect and celebrate, but the value and joy of what it represents has come from the work I have been privileged to take part in. These moments of joy and impact that we experience each day can become routine with our busy days. This designation prompted me to take a moment to reflect on my own journey and thank those role models, mentors, and family members who have supported me in pursuing my passion.

What value have you received by achieving your FAONL designation?
This designation has opened up further connections with industry leaders across our profession. Since the announcement, I have gained connections and opportunities that I may not have otherwise had. Additionally, this designation has opened the door for further mentorship and connections with leaders across the country who are looking to pursue the FAONL.

What advice would you give to someone working towards achieving FAONL status?
As with all things in nursing, you never practice alone. Pull in your friends, mentors, and colleagues to help guide you through the process. This is a celebration of impact and a way to honor those who have helped you along the way.
