LPNs/LVNs in Care Delivery: Executive Perspectives on Opportunity and Implementation

This webinar will examine how nurse leaders are approaching LPN/LVN integration as part of broader care model redesign. Drawing on the Chartis Center for burnout Solutions/AONL Quick Hit survey results, AONL CEO Claire Zangerle will discuss national patterns in LPN/LVN utilization, key barriers to implementation and members' priorities for AONL support, including best-practice guidance and thought leadership. Executive panelists will share practical insights into effectively incorporating LPNs/LVNs into acute care models, including defining roles, supporting delegation, addressing scope of practice, building career pathways and engaging stakeholders.

Claire M. Zangerle, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAONL, FAAN, is CEO of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) and SVP and CNE of the American Hospital Association. She leads AONL’s 12,000 members, advances nursing leadership through the AONL Foundation, and supports AHA’s quality and workforce initiatives. Previously, she held leadership roles at Allegheny Health Network, Cleveland Clinic and the Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio.

Maribeth McLaughlin, MPM, BSN, RN, FAAN - Chief Nurse Executive and Vice President, Patient Care Services, UPMC

Maribeth McLaughlin leads nursing strategy for UPMC’s 24,000 nurses and oversees nursing standards and clinical practice across 40 hospitals, 700 ambulatory sites and all divisions of the UPMC health system. She directs efforts in nursing practice optimization, clinical informatics, professional development, care coordination, patient experience and system-wide staffing and operations. She also leads UPMC’s nursing and Allied Health pipeline initiatives, including oversight of the eight UPMC Schools of Nursing.
