Lead With Clarity: A Practical Framework for Nurse Leader Priorities That Protect Teams From Burnout

Nurse leaders are expected to deliver results while navigating constant urgency, staffing pressure, and rising burnout risk. In this session, Dr. Andrea Coyle will share a practical prioritization framework using the Eisenhower Matrix and show how combining leadership habits with workforce intelligence helps leaders spot strain earlier and respond more effectively. Attendees will learn how to protect time for coaching and development, focus effort on what drives retention and performance, and connect everyday decisions to measurable workforce outcomes. Joy Metrics will be briefly introduced at the end.

Learning Outcomes:

• Apply the Eisenhower Matrix to distinguish between urgent and important tasks, enabling more intentional decision-making and improved time management. 
• Evaluate daily leadership responsibilities through the lens of importance versus urgent to maximize effectiveness and increase time spent on strategic leadership.

Dr. Andrea Coyle is a nurse leader and expert in creating structures and processes that improve performance outcomes. She is recognized for her passion ability to inspire, motivate, coach, and empower teams to advance the profession of nursing.  Dr. Coyle is collaborating with healthcare organizations and nursing associations to help mitigate the impact of burn out.

Andrea has successfully led a large academic Medical Center to its first magnet designation and first magnet redesignation and has helped hospitals internationally on their nursing excellence magnet journey.

Dr. Coyle is also an inaugural member of the American Nurse’s Association’s Healthy Nurse/Healthy Nation advisory board. She is also published and has her nurse executive board certification.
