Frequently Asked Questions
How do I access the app?
Download the app ("AONL Leader2Leader") for Apple or Android and login using the same member credentials you use for the web platform. You will then be taken to the app homepage.
Will I receive notifications from the app?
Yes, notifications will be enabled by default. When you first login, you will be asked if you want to change how you receive notifications or turn them off. You can also manage notifications at any time in the "My Account" area.
Do I need to have the same notifications for each community I am in?
No, you can choose whether to set global notification settings for all communities, or you can select different settings for individual communities.
Can I edit my profile or make other changes directly in the app?
Some adjustments you can make directly in the app (e.g. customizing your home page), but some changes need to be made in the web platform (e.g. editing your profile). If you click to edit your profile in the app, you will be taken to your web browser to edit, then re-directed back to the app.
Navigating and Personalizing the App
What are the main areas of the app?
There are four main areas you can navigate to using the bottom navigation bar:
- Home: This page contains information on upcoming events, the personal shortcuts you've added and any current announcements from AONL. TIP: Tap the text "Tap to read more" under the AONL logo to learn more about Leader2Leader!
- Menu: This is where you can access different modules of Leader2Leader, such as the Member Directory or Mentor Match, as well as external areas such as AONL's website. Some of these links stay within the app and some will take you to a webpage. TIP: See next section for how to add one of these as a homepage shortcut!
- Community: This is where you can view discussion posts and library entries for each community you are a member of.
- My Account: You can edit your profile information from this page by clicking the "Manage" button and then "Edit." If you tap the gear icon in the top right, you can turn all app notifications on or off.
How do I add shortcuts to my home page?
There are two ways to do this:
- Click the "Menu" icon in the bottom navigation bar, then press and hold any icon you wish to add as a Shortcut. A pop-up box will appear asking you to confirm you want to add as a shortcut. TIP: You need to press down on the icon for 2-3 seconds without moving your finger before the pop-up box appears.
- Alternatively, you can click the "Home" icon in the bottom left, and press the square with dotted lines under the "My Shortcuts" heading. Click "Take me there" in the pop-up box, then follow the steps above.
If I'm a member of multiple communities, how do I navigate between them or find specific content shared?
Tap "Community" in the bottom navigation bar. The default setting is to show messages from all of your communities in the feed. Below the subject of the post, you will see the name of the community it was posted to (e.g. Nurse Leader Open Forum). There are a few ways to filter here:
- At the top, tap "All Communities". A drop-down menu will appear showing all communities you are a member of. You can tap one to only view posts from that community.
- Use the Search bar to filter by subject. For example, typing "IV" will pull up all posts from your communities discussing IVs.
- Tap the dotted rectangular box "Filter by Post Type" to only view a specific type of content: Announcement, Discussion, Event, Library Entry, Question, or Blog. TIP: We recommend mainly using the Discussion or Library Entry options here, as the other content items are not used as regularly.
How do I reply to a discussion post?
From the "Community" page, click the name of the discussion post to view the full post. Scroll down to the bottom of the original post. You will see three icons with the options to share the post (note that anyone you share it with will need to login to view), like the post or reply to the post. Tap the reply icon to type your message and add an attachment if you wish, then tap "Post Reply" in the top right corner. TIP: These icons do NOT appear following replies to the post; make sure you only scroll to the end of the original post to find them.
How do I post a new discussion?
From the "Community" page, use the dropdown menu at the top to select the community you wish to post to. Then tap the pencil icon in the bottom right. Choose "New Discussion" and begin typing your post. Enter a title, chose any additional communities you wish to crosspost to and type your message. When you are finished, click "Post" in the top right.
How do I upload a document?
From the "Community" page, use the dropdown menu at the top to select the community you wish to post to. Then tap the pencil icon in the bottom right. Choose "New Library Document". Enter a title, chose any additional communities you wish to crosspost to and type a brief description. Click the "Add Attachments" button to upload from your phone. When you are finished, click "Post" in the top right.
Can I upload a document with my post in the app?
The app currently does not allow this. You would need to make both a discussion post and library entry uploads. Alternatively, you could use the web platform to do both at the same time (all attachments uploaded with posts on the web platform automatically go into the library).
