Post-Baccalaureate Nursing Education Costs and Workforce Challenges
AONL is seeking first-hand stories from nurse leaders, including those in advanced practice leadership roles, about how the financial challenges of pursuing post-baccalaureate nursing education impacts your ability to recruit and retain nurses in hospitals amid the ongoing nursing shortage. Additionally, we also seek perspectives on how this change could have potentially impacted your ability to complete advanced nursing education.
Your insights will help us advocate for policies that strengthen the nursing workforce and ensure access to advanced education.

In your response, consider answering these questions:
- How have tuition and loan costs affected your ability to support nurses pursuing advanced education?
- What challenges do you face when recruiting nurses for hospital roles that require advanced preparation or leadership skills?
- How do these financial barriers impact patient care and workforce sustainability?
Stories may be featured in AONL advocacy efforts to highlight the urgent need for solutions.
We are gathering personal accounts and reflections from nurse leaders.
Do you have a story that could help support why policymakers need to address the nursing shortage, burnout, clinician well-being or another issue that is important to you. Please record a video or write your story below. AONL will share your stories but will not list your full name nor your organization’s name.
