To help nurse leaders build these essential skills, AONL Advocacy teams up with your organization for Advocacy in Action, a hosted education program that will help nurse leaders learn about the key issues, build relationships with lawmakers and communicate effectively with important audiences.

Intended Audience
Teams of nurse leaders who want to make a difference in policy, but don't know where to start. Across any role, care setting or organization, these advocacy skills build confidence and inspire change.
Emphasizing organizational structures and access to timely policy information, this training empowers individuals to become credible, influential voices in the policymaking process.
Learning Outcomes
- Differentiate between federal and state healthcare advocacy efforts and describe how each influences nursing practice, patient care and healthcare systems.
- Identify current or emerging federal and state healthcare policy issues that impact their professional role or organization.
- Explain the role of nurses and healthcare leaders in advocacy, including practical ways to engage in policy‑related activities at the local, state, or federal level.
- Demonstrate increased readiness to participate in at least one healthcare advocacy action (e.g., education, communication, organizational advocacy or legislative outreach).
SPECIAL ASSISTANCE

CANCELLATION
A refund minus 20% will be granted to written requests received 14 days or more prior to the start date of the program. Cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to AONL Education. No refunds will be granted after that date. No refunds will be granted for no-shows. Registrants unable to attend may send a substitute. If the substitute is not an AONL member, the nonmember differential must be paid in advance or onsite. All fees are transferable to the substitute less a $25 transfer fee.
