HHS seeks input on how to reduce regulations

The Health and Human Services Department opened da 60-day public comment period for stakeholders regarding its request for information to remove outdated or unnecessary regulations. The request stems from an executive order requiring HHS to eliminate at least 10 existing regulations for every new regulation introduced. The American Hospital Association recently responded to a similar administration RFI on deregulation. The AHA’s recommendations include working with hospitals to develop another sepsis measure in lieu of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid sepsis bundle, which has not improved outcomes; removing many telehealth restrictions; and eliminating restrictions preventing nurse practitioners from practicing to the full extent of their education and training. (HHS news release, 5/13/25)
