HRSA awards grants for rural opioid response

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded $24 million in a second round of Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) planning grants. Recipients in 40 states will receive $200,000 each to create partnerships, conduct needs assessments and develop plans to implement prevention, treatment and recovery interventions. The program is part of a multi-year initiative to support prevention and treatment of substance use and opioid use disorders. HRSA will accept applications through June 10 for an additional $8 million in RCORP grants to support the expansion of medication-assisted treatment in rural communities. All applicants must be located in HRSA-designated rural areas. (HRSA news release, 5/13/19)
