NCC submits testimony to U.S. Senate

In written testimony, the Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) asked Congress to continue investing in nursing education and research by allocating $266 million for Title VIII nursing workforce programs. These programs include the Advanced Nursing Education (ANE) program, which supported the training of more than 10,500 students in primary care settings in the 2017 academic year. Title VIII initiatives also help improve patient outcomes by meeting the demand for nurses in a wide variety of health care settings and promoting diversity in the nursing workforce. The NCC also requested $173 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR). “From disease prevention and global health, to precision medicine and genomic studies, NINR is at the forefront of nursing science and research and training new nurse scientists to sustain the longevity and success of this important endeavor,” the authors wrote. AONL is one of 59 NCC member nursing organizations that joined in submitting the testimony. (NCC testimony, 5/30/19)
