AHA Criticizes Steep Medicaid Cuts in Senate Bill
The American Hospital Association criticized the Senate draft bill released by the Finance Committee, saying it would “further undermine the ability for hospitals to provide care to Medicaid patients” and could lead to hospital closures, particularly in rural areas. The Medicaid reductions combined with changes to health insurance marketplaces, would cause millions of Americans to become uninsured, the AHA said. More than 250 hospital and health system leaders participated in an AHA Advocacy Day briefing in Washington, D.C. AONL encourages its members to send personalized messages asking their legislators to oppose the cuts. The Senate is expected to vote on the bill by the middle of next week. (AHA Statement, 6/16/25)
