AHA podcast explores how hospital transformed geriatric care
In an American Hospital Association podcast, Froedtert Menomonee Falls (Wis.) Hospital Clinical Nurse Specialist Shelley Hart, MS, RN, discussed the hospital’s efforts to create an age-friendly health system. Hospital leadership supported the initiative. Froedtert conducted a gap analysis to determine what it could do better and developed metrics to measure progress. The hospital focused on delirium prevention and provided education to nurses. It also trained nurses, nursing assistants and providers to center care on what matters to the patient and how to create a hospital experience centered on dignity and purpose.
