AHA releases 2026 Workforce Scan

The American Hospital Association released its 2026 Health Care Workforce Scan — an annual snapshot of America’s hospital and health system employment based on reports, studies and other data sources. It offers insights and strategies from peers and experts on navigating the future of the health care workforce. Case studies from dozens of organizations, including Atrium Health, Charlotte, N.C., Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., and Corewell Health, Grand Rapids, Mich., show how to redesign staffing models and workflows with team-based approaches; build the foundation of artificial intelligence to deliver value; improve engagement and well-being; redefine workforce needs and roles; and support a multigenerational workforce.
