AONL, Laudio release report on engaging, retaining Gen Z nurses
The latest report from AONL and Laudio examines how Gen Z RNs’ unique preferences are reshaping the nursing workforce and offers recommendations on how nurse leaders can support the long-term retention of Gen Z nurses. Based on an analysis of a national workforce dataset of almost 100,000 RNs and their managers across more than 150 hospitals, the report finds Gen Z is the second-largest generation of RNs in health systems and the only cohort increasing in representation. Gen Z nurses want transparency, frequent connection and clear pathways for growth from the onset of their careers. To retain Gen Z nurses, leaders will need to redesign leadership touchpoints, career pathways and communication models. The report offers nurse leaders a data-driven roadmap to sustain Gen Z nurses’ engagement. (Laudio news release, 3/25/26)
