AONL Sends Advocacy Alert on Budget Bill

AONL urges members to contact their elected members in the House of Representatives, asking them to reject the proposed Medicaid cuts in the budget reconciliation bill. The Senate narrowly passed the reconciliation bill (H.R. 1), with Vice President J.D. Vance casting the tie-breaking vote. The Senate version returned to the House for consideration as Congress attempts to meet President Trump’s July 4 deadline. The Senate bill contains provisions that would make steeper Medicaid cuts than the initial House-passed bill. The American Hospital Association President and CEO Rick Pollack criticized the nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts, the largest ever proposed by Congress, saying they “will result in irreparable harm to our health care system, reducing access to care for all Americans and severely undermining the ability of hospitals and health systems to care for our most vulnerable patients.” The AHA  urges the House maintain access to care and mitigate the legislation.
