AONL session explores empowering nurse leaders in digital transformation
An article in the October issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration discussed takeaways from the sold out 2025 AONL preconference session entitled “Empowering Nurse Leaders in Digital Revolution.” The 120 nurse leaders, informaticists, educators, health system executives and industry partners explored strategies aligned with AONL’s digital transformation guiding principles for steering digital transformation in health care while preserving the values of patient-centered care, including implementation strategies. For example, they discussed ways to bridge technological and artificial intelligence knowledge gaps through training and mentorship, including simulation-based learning and gamification. They said organizations should develop comprehensive programs including foundational and applied AI knowledge to equip nurse leaders and educators with skills to interpret AI outputs, evaluate clinical decision support systems and apply data ethics principles.
