AONL supports VA efforts to develop national practice standards

AONL joined 33 other organizations in calling on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) last week to develop National Standards of Practice for the VA’s health care workforce. The aim of such standards is to increase veteran access to timely, high quality health care. The standards, which have been in development for years, would allow VA providers, including advanced practice registered nurses, to practice to the full extent of their education, training and certification. They would also supersede state laws, which often restrict nursing practice. (Sign-on letter, 10/7/21)
