APP professional advancement model improves morale
A professional advancement model for advanced practice providers has increased engagement and recognition and boosted morale at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, according to an article published in the February issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration. Lead author Laura Finn, DNP, RN, and her co-authors say more than 45% of its workforce has applied to achieve a professional advancement model tier. In addition, 71% of survey respondents said the professional advancement model had a “positive” or “very positive” impact on employee engagement. Retention also improved. The hospital has embedded the program into its nursing professional governance and performance review process. Finn, an AONL member, is inpatient APP practice and professional development director at the hospital.
