Article helps nurse leaders weigh which certifications to pursue

Nurses seeking leadership certifications should consider their responsibility level, the continuing education hours required to keep the certification current and their organization’s preference in determining which ones to pursue, states an article posted to Sermo, a physician-community website. Among the four main credentials discussed are two offered by AONL. AONL’s Certified Nurse Manager and Leader credential is often the first certification leaders attain and certifies an ability to run a unit, while AONL’s Certified in Executive Nursing Practice is an executive-level credential geared towards directors, vice presidents, CNOs and CNEs. While attaining certification often does not result in an immediate pay raise, it can provide nurses with competitive advantages in internal promotion decisions and external applications as well as help them to grow their networks.
