Blog explores how hospitals are advancing maternal health

An American Hospital Association blog describes key takeaways from the AHA Better Health for Mothers and Babies webinar series, where hospitals discuss how they are putting the initiative’s four core principles into action. The four core principles are to examine quality and outcomes data to guide strategy; consider the causes of disparities in health outcomes; involve patients and community in their own care; and engage the workforce. Lessons include standardizing data collection to drive accountability and accelerate improvement, and combining data with storytelling to humanize outcomes and build commitment. Hospitals also should equip nurses and interprofessional teams to act quickly and confidently. Registration is open for the fourth webinar in the series to be held on March 5 at noon ET.
