CNOs make the business case for virtual nursing

To expand virtual nursing beyond pilot programs, CNOs must prove to executives the return on investment, said a CNO panel participating in a HealthLeaders Media webinar. Patient experience, length of stay and reductions in agency labor and premium pay can demonstrate how virtual nursing reduces an organization’s overall healthcare costs, they said. The panelists were AONL members Erica DeBoer, RN, senior vice president and CNO, Sanford Health, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Andrea Hauser, DNP, RN, CNO and vice president of the Gunderson Region, Emplify Health in Green Bay, Wis.; and Amber Price, DNP, RN, senior vice president and CNO, Sentara Health in Norfolk, Va.
