CNOs should collaborate, forecast with talent acquisition leaders to recruit nurses
CNOs should work with chief human resource officers and talent acquisition managers to strengthen their recruitment processes, says Beebe Healthcare Director of System Talent Acquisition Jennifer Spinelli. The Lewes, Del.-based system leverages data, market insights and strategic partnerships with middle and secondary schools to create long-term pipelines to ensure a stable nursing workforce. It also has expanded international recruitment to fill positions. Spinelli says the system has prioritized onboarding and ensured candidates are qualified for specific unit roles to improve retention. In addition, she says CNOs and talent acquisition leaders should anticipate upcoming retirements, turnover trends and project requirements. Hiring sooner and investing in direct and international hires can reduce reliance on travel nurses and better control costs. (HealthLeaders Media article, 6/15/26)
