Common Health Coalition receives $100 million Open AI grant

The OpenAI Foundation awarded the Common Health Coalition $100 million for an initiative to use artificial intelligence-powered tools to help states and localities treat and cure infections and diseases. The Breakthroughs to Follow-Through initiative first will seek to at least double hepatitis-C cure rates over the next two years by convening state-based partners and nonprofit organizations in eight states to deploy generative artificial intelligence tools to identify eligible patients and reconnect them to treatment. The initiative will begin in Alabama, Illinois, Louisiana and Massachusetts, with additional localities announced in the next six months. The initiative will expand to HIV prevention and curable cancers. The American Hospital Association is a founding member of the Common Health Coalition. (Common Health Coalition news release, 8/13/26)
