Fellowship spurs leaders, teams to prioritize evidence-based practice
An academic health system in Wisconsin designed an evidence-based practice fellowship structure consisting of direct care nurse teams leading projects and receiving mentoring from nursing leadership, according to an article in the February issue of Nurse Leader. The authors say the fellowship advanced organizational priorities and supported a culture of inquiry. Pairing fellows into teams enabled them to share different perspectives and evidence review responsibilities. Nursing leaders considering similar programs should select evidence-based topics with potential return on investment. They also should create opportunities for nurses to maintain their evidence-based competencies after the fellowship ends.
