House-Passed CR to Fund Government Maintains Title VIII Nursing Programs

The House voted on a continuing resolution (H.R. 6500) to fund the federal government, maintaining Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs at the fiscal year 2026 enacted level of $305.472 million. The legislation passed on a 370-48 bipartisan vote; the Senate passed its version by a vote of 90-6 on Aug. 8. Funding at FY 2026 enacted levels will continue through Dec. 11 under the continuing resolution while Congress finalizes FY 2027 appropriations. The House FY 2027 Labor-Health and Human Services appropriations bill proposes $307.472 million for Title VIII programs, while the Nursing Community Coalition urges Congress to provide at least $610 million.
