Joint Commission, NQF seek comments on serious reportable events list
The Joint Commission and the National Quality Forum seek public comments until July 1 as part of a consensus-based process to update the NQF Serious Reportable Events List. Stakeholders should review the proposed 2025 SRE List and event descriptions. Stakeholders should provide additional information that will foster a clear understanding of each SRE and how each applies to various health care settings. The comments will inform the SRE List final report, which will be published this fall and include implementation guidance. In addition to modernizing the SRE List, the NQF wants to simplify nomenclature used in reporting patient safety events, harmonize unaligned event definitions and reporting frameworks and provide specific guidance to improve the consistency of reporting.
