Joint Commission initiative to highlight hospital quality, safety solutions
The Joint Commission will launch an initiative to acknowledge the performance strengths of accredited hospitals and critical access hospitals in January 2026 before expanding the program to other organizations. The Survey Analysis for Evaluating Strengths or SAFEST initiative seeks to provide balanced feedback to accredited organizations and develop a catalog of quality and safety solutions based on peer success stories. Joint Commission surveyors will document the strengths they observe during an organization’s triannual accreditation survey and include them in a report shared with the organization. Organizations will be able to review and make changes to the information before the Joint Commission compiles the materials into a resource catalog of success stories.
