Lee Health decreases turnover with AONL TNMP Program
Lee Health implemented the AONL Transition to Nurse Manager Practice Program in 2024 to equip nurse managers with knowledge, skills and support to succeed. The case study is detailed in the April issue of Nurse Leader. The five-month TNMP Program combined online learning modules with facilitated in-person sessions. Based on the AONL Nurse Leader Competencies and informed by evidence-based leadership frameworks and adult learning theory, the program provides a bridge from clinical expertise to effective nurse leadership. Nurse supervisor and manager turnover rates fell to 2.7% for the 35 nurses completing the pilot phase from an annual rate of 9% before the program started. More than 190 nurse managers have completed the program at the Fort Myers, Fla. health system, with two additional cohorts starting in 2026.
