Medical groups sue over HHS COVID-19 vaccine recommendations

The American Academy of Pediatrics and other medical groups sued Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and other health leaders over their decision to stop recommending COVID-19 vaccines to healthy children and pregnant women. The lawsuit, filed in Massachusetts, alleges the order violated the Administrative Procedure Act and demonstrated a “pattern of hostility toward established scientific processes.” The suit requests Kennedy’s order be declared unlawful, that the administration restore COVID-19 vaccine recommendations for pregnant women and Kennedy announce the reinstated guidance on X. Separately, Kennedy implemented the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s ousted Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommendation to expand access to respiratory syncytial virus vaccination and add a new option for meningococcal vaccination.
