NCC comments on National Institute of Nursing Research strategic plan

The Nursing Community Coalition’s 66 members signed a letter to the National Institute of Nursing Research responding to the September Request for Information for its Fiscal Year 2027-2031 Strategic Plan. The NCC says NINR’s foundational research areas should translate evidence into policy and study emerging science such as artificial intelligence; strengthen nursing workforce and healthcare delivery; and prioritize research on the RN and advanced practice registered nursing workforce and on implementation science supporting primary and specialty healthcare needs. NINR also should seek to improve healthcare outcomes by supporting nursing practice and healthcare models promoting patient-centered care across the life continuum, as well as continuing its focus on rural and underserved areas and building capacity to address ongoing and emerging healthcare needs.
