NCC submits nursing funding requests to Senate committee

AONL and 62 other members of the Nursing Community Coalition signed written testimony to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education. The NCC requests at least $530 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and at least $210 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research for fiscal year 2026. The NCC also asks that NINR remain an independent institute within NIH. In response to a leaked Health and Human Services Department budget proposal to eliminate the NINR, AONL member Jennifer Manning, DNS, associate dean for undergraduate nursing programs at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing in New Orleans, contends in a Med-Page Today editorial eliminating NINR would threaten patient care and health innovation.
