NCC thanks legislators for bill addressing nurse faculty shortage

AONL and 54 other members of the Nursing Community Coalition thanked Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, D-Ore., along with other supporters, for introducing the Nurse Faculty Shortage Reduction Act (S. 3707/H.R. 7279). The NCC requested the legislation be included in any health care or workforce package Congress moves forward. The bipartisan bill would provide grant funding to narrow the pay gap between faculty and clinical nurses to encourage more nurses to take on faculty roles. Nursing schools turn away thousands of qualified nursing students each year due to a lack of faculty available to teach them. (Nursing Community Coalition letter, 3/17/26)
