NCC thanks legislators for introducing FAAN Act

AONL and 57 other members of the Nursing Community Coalition thanked Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., and Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., for reintroducing the Future Advancement of Academic Nursing Act (H.R. 6607/S.3435). The legislation would enhance nursing student enrollment and recruitment, make it easier to hire and retain faculty and support modernizing nursing education infrastructure. In addition, the bill would increase opportunities for nursing schools to partner with nurse-managed health clinics, community health centers and other health care facilities to create and expand clinical education opportunities. It also would prioritize medically underserved locations, rural communities and health professional shortage areas, with funds directed to those who can most benefit.
