NCC thanks legislators for introducing nursing workforce bill

AONL and 61 other Nursing Community Coalition members thanked Reps. Dave Joyce, R-Ohio, Suzanne Bonamici, D-Ore., Jen Keegans, R-Va., and Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., and Sens. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., Susan Collins, R-Maine, Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., and Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., for introducing the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2025 (S. 1874/H.R. 3593). The bipartisan, bicameral legislation would ensure Nursing Workforce Development Programs secure the federal authorization necessary for obtaining funding in future fiscal years. The programs strengthen nursing education at all levels, support institutions that educate future nurses, help recruit and retain nurses and ensure nursing care is available nationwide, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health held a hearing on the bill. (NCC letter, 7/14/25)
