NCC urges support for amendment to improve access to worker’s compensation
AONL and 53 other Nursing Community Coalition members urged the House Rules Committee and House Armed Services Committee leadership to support amendment 103 to the National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 8800) for fiscal year 2027. Based on the Improving Access to Workers’ Compensation for Injured Federal Workers Act (H.R. 3170), the amendment would remove outdated barriers in the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act. These barriers limit the ability of nurse practitioners to diagnose and oversee the care and treatment of federal employees, including Department of Defense civilian employees, Civil Air Patrol volunteers and Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets who are injured or become sick while employed. The change would ensure federal employees receive timely access to care when injured while on the job. (NCC letter, 6/25/26)
