NINR to fund community-partnered nursing research centers

The National Institute for Nursing Research announced a funding initiative to support the development of innovative research centers within nursing schools to advance nurse-led, community-engaged science. The program’s goal is to establish or expand research infrastructure that promotes meaningful community partnerships and addresses persistent health challenges. The NINR expects centers receiving funding to strengthen centralized research resources; develop and enhance nurse-led, interdisciplinary teams; and build expertise in community-partnered research through pilot studies applying NINR research lenses. They must make community engagement an integral component of their center to ensure the research is relevant and responsive to community needs. Applications are due Jan. 25, 2026; more information is available on the National Institutes of Health website. (NINR news release, 9/26/25)
