Nearly half of bedside nurses want role with less AI

In a national nursing artificial intelligence workforce study, 48% of respondents said they were likely to seek a role, unit or employer that involved less AI use until the technology becomes more reliable and transparent. The report, conducted by Black Book Research, surveyed 202 hospital-based nurses with direct exposure to AI-enabled clinical, operational, administrative, monitoring or workforce systems. Sixty-three percent of respondents said AI introduced new tasks without removing the prior documentation, coordination or reporting work. Nearly 60% reported more time explaining exceptions, resolving conflicting outputs or communicating with managers, information technology, quality or compliance teams. The report urges hospital leaders to verify AI implementation reduces total work, protects clinical context, supports communication and allows nurses to inspect, correct and appeal information attributed to them.
