Nurse managers are key to successful AI adoption, CNIO says
To ensure successful adoption of artificial intelligence tools by bedside staff, nurse managers should provide frequent updates and hold staff meeting or huddles to explain how to use the tools effectively and to solicit feedback, says Cedars-Sinai Chief Nursing Information Officer Lisa Stephenson, MSN, RN. Staff nurses should communicate which features they would like to see developed. Stephenson also believes nursing leaders should address their staff’s concerns with AI. The Los Angeles-based system has an Intranet page discussing its rationale for using AI. In addition, she says leaders should provide technology fairs to give nurses experience using the tools. Stephenson says ambient documentation and virtual nursing cameras to monitor patients are promising AI tools, along with using the technology to pull real-time patient data.
