Nurse recruitment agency sues administration over H-1B visa fee
Global Nurse Force is suing the Trump administration over its executive order to increase the H-1B visa fee application from approximately $3,500 to $100,000. The staffing agency, which works with international specialty nurses, says it will need to close its U.S. operations if the fee remains in place. The lawsuit further contends the fees would harm patients and hospitals. Without an adequate supply of international specialty nurses, the lawsuit says hospitals would need to reduce capacity in intensive care units, emergency departments and surgical units, resulting in longer wait times and worse patient outcomes, particularly in rural areas relying on foreign health care workers to provide care. The American Hospital Association has urged the administration to exempt health care workers from the fee. (MedPage Today article, 11/6/25)
