Nurse scientist mentors assist DNP student employees
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta successfully cultivated the development of sustainable doctorate of nursing practice projects that improved patient, clinical or system outcomes by assigning DNP student employees to DNP nurse scientist mentors. The program is profiled in the June issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration, Mentors identify practice-generated clinical questions that align with the system’s nursing strategic priorities. This work generates return on investment data to highlight the economic impact of patient outcomes and improvement in nursing practice at the bedside. The system adheres to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and AONL’s Task Force on Academic-Practice Partnership goal to extend evidence-based practice into the clinical arena to improve patient outcomes.
