Nurses ranked most trusted profession again
Nurses once again attained the highest ethics ratings from Americans ─ a distinction they have held for 25 years. Nurses achieved a 75% “very high” or “high” rating of trust among professions, followed by military veterans (67%), medical doctors (57%) and pharmacists (53%). However, trust overall in professions is declining, with seven of the 21 occupations measured in the Dec. 1-15, 2025, poll reaching new low points or tied with previous lows. Nursing was one of eight professions to fall statistically close to its previous lowest point. Pharmacists, high school teachers, clergy members and business executives fell two to three percentage points lower than previous record lows. (Gallup news release, 1/12/26)
