Organizations issue flu, RSV, COIVD-19 vaccine recommendations

Prominent medical organizations issued vaccine recommendations for influenza, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus for 2026-2027, following the publication of an evidence review in the Journal of the American Medical Association (AMA). Conducted by the Vaccine Integrity Project and the AMA, the review includes studies evaluating all licensed or approved U.S. products designed to prevent the three viruses, with a focus on safety, effectiveness and epidemiology. Organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics, say they stepped in following federal government inaction and misinformation on vaccines. COVID-19 cases climbed in August. Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not issued COVID-19 vaccine recommendations this year, the Food and Drug Administration has approved four updated COVID-19 shots.
