Podcast explores how Beacon Health is reducing infant mortality

In an American Hospital Association podcast, Beacon Health System leaders discuss how they are leveraging a five-year, $5.4 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to reduce infant mortality in Michigan and Indiana through home visits and remote patient monitoring, mental health support to parents and forming community partnerships with universities, industry and non-profits. The health system, based in South Bend, Ind., hired a person whose sole focus is to support families and their social needs. Beacon provides resources to families up to 18 months after the baby’s birth. In addition, Beacon is developing a mobile medical unit to bring care to communities, and staff prioritize listening to families about their needs and concerns.
