Prism Award honoree details programs to nurture, develop nurses
Nurse leaders from 2025 AONL Prism Award honoree University Hospitals, Cleveland, describe the initiatives that have helped the system develop nursing talent. In the October issue of Nurse Leader, they explain how front-line caregivers designed a patient-centered care model that aligns responsibilities, eliminates bottlenecks and empowers team members to practice at the top of their licenses. Other initiatives include a virtual nursing program developed in collaboration with front-line nurses permitting nurses to alternate between in-person and remote shifts. The virtual staff improves responsiveness and continuity while enhancing the patient experience and providing greater flexibility for nursing staff. Another initiative, the UH Future Nurse Academy, promotes career readiness and economic opportunities for Northeast Ohio high school students interested in nursing careers.
