Project aims to counter vaccine misinformation
Public health experts and scientists are forming the Vaccine Integrity Project to counter vaccine misinformation. Former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Margaret Hamburg, MD, and former National Academy of Medicine Harvey Fineberg, MD, PhD, are leading the effort, which is backed by Walmart heiress Christy Walton. The project will operate as part of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy and could eventually produce independent product evaluations and clinical guidelines. The project’s founders contend vaccine skepticism threatens to compromise federal public health agencies and the information they circulate. The group may review government decisions and messaging to provide clear and evidence-based information. (Axios article, 4/29/25)
