Reconciliation bill signed into law
President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1) into law following the House vote of 218-214 to pass the bill’s final version, enacting administration priorities on taxes, border security, energy and deficit reduction. Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Penn., voted with House Democrats against the bill. The bill includes significant policy changes to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplaces. An American Hospital Association legislative advisory provides additional details on the bill’s health care provisions. The AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack expressed disappointment with the Medicaid cuts, saying, “The real-life consequences of these reductions will negatively impact access to care for all Americans.” The AHA will seek to mitigate the impact of the cuts, he added.
