VHA evidence-based practice course for nurses shows results
Nursing leaders at the Veterans Health Administration describe how they implemented an evidence-based practice course for 106 nurses at 17 facilities. Writing in the November issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration, the authors discuss their virtual course, which contained eight sessions taking place every two weeks. The sessions consisted of didactic content and breakout sessions focused on implementing evidence-based practice steps and promoting collaboration among teams. Participants started 27 evidence-based practice projects. The project teams present regular updates on the status of their projects to leadership, which has been crucial to embedding and sustaining practice change. At three months, 96% of the projects were in the implementation phase.
